Emulsifying Wax-SCG- NF – ECOCERT
INCI Name: Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol and Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate.
The emulsifying wax SCG is an Ecocert approved wax comprised of Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol and Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate. It was designed as a complete emulsifier so that other emulsifier enhancers such as stearic acid or cetyl alcohol are not required.
Used in formulations to create a variety of products including creams, lotions, hair conditioners etc.
It can be used in non-ionic, cationic and anionic formulas. You do have to be careful about the preservative system used. Because there is an anionic component, preservatives such as cosmocil are not to be used. We recommend the Optiphen line as it is broad spectrum and versatile.
There is a noticeable aroma to the wax which is transferred to products manufactured with it, so it is best utilized with formulations that will have a scent added.
This is a time and money saving, effective, easy emulsifier to use, with the added benefit of declaring it Ecocoert on your labels. Proper test batches should be conducted, especially if the intention is to simply switch out another emulsifier for this one.
Recommended usage levels : Lotions 3 – 6 %
Creams 4 – 8%
